The annual scientific gathering on eye diseases began on Friday in Lahore, bringing together leading national and international ophthalmologists for three days of scientific discussions, hands-on workshops, and live surgical demonstrations.
Organised by the Ophthalmological Society of Pakistan (OSP) in collaboration with the Pakistan Oculoplastic Association (POA), the “43rd Lahore Ophthalmology and 3rd Annual POA Symposium” will take place from December 5 to 7, offering one of the most comprehensive ophthalmology programs.
The conference has evolved into a central platform for eye-care professionals to explore the latest global trends in diagnosis, treatment, and advanced surgical techniques.
A major attraction is Pakistan’s largest exhibition of state-of-the-art ophthalmic technology and equipment.
This year’s event is being led by OSP President Prof Dr Javed Iqbal Chaudhry and General Secretary Prof Dr Nasir Chaudhry, with strong support from the Pakistan Oculoplastic Association.
The opening day saw remarkable international participation, with 21 renowned speakers from the USA, UK, Canada, Europe, Hong Kong/China, UAE, Türkiye, Portugal, Nepal, and Greece joining a substantial number of national experts.
Nearly 400 speakers will present during the conference, while attendance is expected to reach around 1,800 participants.
Chairman of the Scientific Committee, Prof Dr Muhammad Moin, highlighted the significance of the international presence, stating that the participation of globally recognized speakers reflects the strength and credibility of the scientific program.
He noted that live surgeries, plenary dialogues, and academic competitions add meaningful depth to this year’s event.
OSP President Prof Dr Javed Iqbal Chaudhry and General Secretary Prof Dr Nasir Chaudhry expressed appreciation for the organising teams and acknowledged the contributions of Prof Dr Muhammad Moin, Prof Dr Qasim Latif Chaudhry, Dr Mian Arshad Mehmood, Dr Irfan Karamat, and Prof Dr Khawaja Khalid Shoaib.
They also commended executive members and superspecialty society chairpersons for structuring a modern, inclusive scientific program aimed at delivering a uniform learning experience to all participants.
