The federal government has decided to withdraw the Pakistan Army contingent deployed in Faisalabad for flood and rescue operations, sources said on Wednesday.
According to sources, the decision was taken by the federal government on the request of the Punjab Home Department, following an improvement in the situation in the district.
The withdrawal of military forces from Faisalabad district will take effect immediately, the sources added.
The Interior Ministry had deployed the army in Faisalabad under orders issued on August 27, 2025, to assist civil authorities in flood relief and rescue activities. The deployment was carried out under Article 245 of the Constitution to support law enforcement and disaster management efforts.
The army had been assisting local administration in rescue operations, relief work, and maintaining order during the flood emergency.
