Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Thursday paid a surprise visit to Lahore's famous Liberty Chowk, drawing a large crowd of people who gathered upon seeing her.
During the visit, the chief minister warmly interacted with the public, spoke to families, expressed affection for children and took selfies with them. She also asked security personnel not to stop people who wanted to meet her.
Maryam was seen greeting several children, including an innocent girl in a yellow shirt, with whom she shook hands and exchanged smiles. A young child also came forward to greet the chief minister, expressing happiness during the brief interaction. At one point, a young man approached her carrying an infant in his lap, and the chief minister gave blessings to the child.
People praised her work during the interaction. One citizen told her, “Everybody praises you, everyone likes your work,” while another remarked that her performance was “surprisingly excellent” and wished that she would visit Karachi as well.
The chief minister also spoke to bikers present at the spot and instructed those without safety rods installed on their motorcycles to have them fitted. She informed a young man that safety rods could be installed free of cost at designated camps.
“Safety rods are for your own safety, I care about you,” Maryam said. She clarified that there is no ban on riding motorcycles during Basant, but warned that bikes without safety rods would be stopped.
She emphasized that such safety measures are solely meant for the protection and well-being of the public.
