Amal Clooney has revealed a strict yet meaningful rule she enforces at home: no phones allowed.

In a recent interview with Glamour, the 47-year-old British-Lebanese barrister who shares eight-year-old twins with her Hollywood actor George Clooney, opened up about how protecting private family time has become increasingly important in today’s hyper-connected world.

“Creating private moments and spaces is becoming increasingly difficult. But that’s also why we entertain a lot at home,” Amal said. She added with a laugh, “I now have a phone basket that I use to take everyone’s phones away!”

The no-phone rule applies to both guests and family members and is aimed at fostering genuine connection and ensuring that their home remains a safe space for open, honest conversations. “It’s important to get that balance where you have time alone with your family and with your friends where people feel like you can have a safe and frank exchange,” she explained.

Amal also reflected on how motherhood transformed her perspective on privacy, especially as someone constantly in the public eye. “Becoming a parent means you’re more troubled by some of the intrusions,” she admitted. “So, we do the best we can to minimize any impact on our children. We don’t put our children out there; we’ve never put their photo out there or anything like that.”

Meanwhile, George Clooney has previously echoed similar sentiments about the importance of family. In an interview with PEOPLE, the Oscar winner said, “In marriage, and now with the kids, you give away the selfishness of only looking out for yourself. It's a wonderful thing. Amal and I talk about it every day. We feel so lucky.”

The Clooneys’ approach to parenting and privacy offers a rare glimpse into the family life of one of the world’s most high-profile couples.
