Pakistan's T20 vice-captain and all-rounder Shadab Khan has undergone successful shoulder surgery in the United Kingdom, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Saturday.
According to reports, the operation, performed on his right shoulder, was deemed necessary after Shadab experienced prolonged discomfort that affected his performance and recovery.
Confirming the procedure, the 25-year-old cricketer shared an update on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, posting a photo from his hospital bed and writing:
“Alhamdulillah, the surgery went well. Recovery and rehab up next. Request you to keep me in your prayers.”
Medical experts advised surgical intervention following consistent pain and limited mobility in his shoulder.
Shadab will now undergo an extensive rehabilitation and physiotherapy program, likely keeping him out of competitive cricket until mid-October.
Shadab will miss the upcoming away T20I series against Bangladesh and the home series against the West Indies.
Additionally, his recovery timeline casts doubt over his availability for the 2025 Asia Cup, scheduled for September.
While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not issued an official recovery timeline or confirmed plans for his return, sources within the board suggest that medical staff will closely monitor his rehab progress over the coming weeks.
