In a bizarre yet very 2025 kind of marital dispute, a 30-year-old woman named Nisha from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, has filed a police complaint against her husband for restricting her Instagram usage and allegedly blocking her account.
According to local media reports, Nisha told police that her husband, Vijendra, had asked her to spend less time on social media and more on household chores. She claimed this demand was unreasonable and had seriously impacted her online presence, which she considers a key part of her daily life.
Nisha, who said she used to post at least two Instagram reels a day, complained that her husband's actions made it “almost impossible” to maintain her account. She became particularly upset when her follower count dropped by two, prompting her to leave her in-laws' home and return to her hometown.
From there, she proceeded to the nearest police station and lodged an official complaint, citing interference in her digital life and mental distress.
Police officials confirmed that they have received the complaint and are processing the matter.
