The National Highway Authority (NHA) has increased toll charges on the M-2 Motorway by seven per cent, with the revised rates taking effect for the next year.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the toll fee for cars has been increased to Rs1,430, while van operators will now pay Rs2,390. The revised toll for coaster vehicles has been fixed at Rs3,350.
Under the new schedule, buses will be charged Rs4,770, while large trailers will be required to pay Rs6,210.
The toll for agricultural machinery has been increased to Rs7,980.
The updated toll structure has already been implemented and will remain in force during the upcoming year, according to the authority.
The revised tariff also changes the per-kilometre cost for motorway users.
Under the new rates, car drivers will pay approximately Rs3.98 per kilometre, while van operators will be charged around Rs6.68 per kilometre.
The increase is part of the NHA’s annual review of motorway toll charges and is expected to affect thousands of commuters and commercial transport operators who regularly use the M-2 corridor.
