One person was killed while the other managed to escape during a police encounter on the National Highway in Karachi, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
Two police personnel, namely Ghulam Abbas and Zubair, were also injured in the incident.
In other localities of the port city, the police arrested nine suspects during separate encounters.
Two alleged dacoits were arrested during an encounter in the Gulshan-e-Maimar area of the city.
Similarly, four persons, including two in an injured condition, were arrested during an encounter in Baldia Al-Fateh Ground.
In Bhittai Colony, one alleged dacoit was arrested in an injured condition.
Likewise, two suspects were arrested in injured condition in Nazimabad’s area of Jahangirabad.
Two injured in Korangi
In Korangi, two persons Abdur Razzaq and Athar, travelling on a motorbike, were injured when cops fired at them for not stopping their bike.
Police said that they signaled two men to stop since they looked suspicious.
But instead of stopping, they tried to speed away, the Force added.
On the other hand, families of the injured persons protested against the police’s action.
SP Landhi said that a case would be registered against the guilty police personnel.
Eight wounded in tanker, rickshaw collision
Eight people were injured due to a collision between a tanker and a rickshaw near Defence Morr.
Trailer turns turtle in DHA
A speeding trailer overturned near Khayaban-e-Rahat in DHA.
Consequently, two people, including a child, got trapped under the trailer.
