A coach of the Shalimar Express derailed near Khanewal on Sunday, causing disruption to rail services and delaying the train’s onwards journey.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the train was travelling from Lahore to Karachi when one of its coaches left the track close to Khanewal Railway Station.
Railway officials said the derailment caused a delay of approximately one hour.
A relief train was dispatched from Multan to assist with restoration work and help return the affected coach to the track.
Authorities stated that efforts were under way to resume normal operations and ensure the train could continue its journey as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, passengers faced considerable difficulties because of intense heat and humid weather conditions.
Travellers at Khanewal reported a lack of adequate relief facilities, adding to the inconvenience caused by the disruption.
Railway officials confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
An assessment of the derailment and restoration work continued as authorities worked to clear the track and restore regular rail services.
