At least two people were reported missing after a Datsun vehicle carrying residents of Piyaro Khan Golo village plunged into the Shahi Canal near Kandhkot, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

According to the report, four people, including two kids, were in the vehicle when it fell into the canal.

The driver survived the accident unharmed in what witnesses described as a miraculous escape.

Local residents immediately launched rescue efforts and managed to pull two injured children from the water.

However, two other passengers were swept away by the strong current before they could be rescued.

The missing individuals were identified as 10-year-old Lalu and 20-year-old Mujeeb Golo. Rescue efforts were continuing in an attempt to locate them.

The injured children were shifted to the Civil Hospital for medical treatment. News of the incident plunged the victims’ families into grief, with scenes of mourning reported in the village and surrounding area.

Residents said that despite being informed of the accident, official emergency responders did not arrive promptly, forcing local people to carry out rescue operations on their own.

Villagers blamed the accident on the poor condition of a bridge over the canal, claiming that weak infrastructure contributed to the tragedy.

They called on the authorities to improve safety measures and repair the bridge to prevent similar incidents in the future.
