The Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League (Q) have forged a political alliance for the upcoming Gilgit-Baltistan elections, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.

According to a spokesperson for PML-Q, the decision was taken on the instructions of party chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

The spokesperson said the alliance seeks to promote political harmony, development, and public welfare through joint efforts.

The spokesperson added that both parties share common positions on key national and public issues and would support each other during the election campaign in Gilgit-Baltistan.

As part of the arrangement, the PML-Q candidate for the GB-13 constituency has withdrawn in favour of PPP candidate Dr Abbas Shah, paving the way for closer electoral coordination between the two parties.

Welcoming the decision, PPP leader Humayun Khan said the cooperation would further strengthen his party's electoral position in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Another PPP leader, Raja Muhammad Aslam, expressed hope that the partnership would contribute to a positive political environment in the region and help address public concerns more effectively.
