The local administration in Narowal retrieved 20 Kanal government land from the possession of influential land mafia in Village Hamral, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The action was taken by local administration after a report was aired by 24NewsHD TV channel last days. According to the report, the influential people were using the grabbed land for agriculture purposes for a long time.
People from the village had requested the district administration on several occasions submitting applications against land mafia but to no avail coz the land grabbers were quite influential.
The locals of the area then submitted an application against the land mafia to Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister, taking swift action against land mafia, ordered the district administration to get the government land vacated from the influential people of the area.
The report about grabbing of government land was aired by the 24NewsHD TV channel.
The deputy commissioner said that the land mafia had also grabbed passage of 16 feet used by villagers. He said the passage was also got cleared by the administration.
The DC further said that the passage was 16 feet wide and one kilometer long connecting the village to the main road. The influential people were using this passage for cultivation too. The passage has been cleared now. The locals had submitted several applications to AC Zafarwal and the deputy commissioner, but no action was taken on these applications. Seeing no other remedy, they submitted the application against the land mafia to Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi who took prompt action and got vacated the government land from the clutches of the influential mafia.
