US Representative Rashida Tlaib (Democrat from Michigan) held up a whiteboard reading “What about the immigrants that worked for you?” as US President Donald Trump addressed a joint session of the Congress in Washington, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Rashida Tlaib, who brought a whiteboard into the chamber, kept scribbling out and erasing messages to display. One sign said “That’s a lie!” Another message read: “Start by paying your taxes.”
Every once in a while, she picked up one of the circular black signs distributed by the Congressional Progressive Caucus with messages aimed at preventing Trump from shifting the focus away from the key issues that Democrats see as resonating with the public, according to someone familiar with the group’s moves.
Democratic lawmaker ejected
A US Democratic lawmaker was ejected from a joint session of Congress on Tuesday after he booed and shouted at Donald Trump while the president delivered a prime-time address.
Veteran congressman Al Green of Texas stood up, raised and shook his cane and shouted at Trump, prompting jeers from Republicans across the aisle and leading congressional aides to escort the African-American lawmaker out of the House of Representatives chamber as Trump looked on.
