Pakistani actor and screenwriter Yasir Hussain and his stunning actress wife Iqra Aziz appeared on a private TV channel’s Ramadan transmission, where they highlighted the importance of speaking Urdu.
The host, Rabia Anum Obaid, appreciated that Kabir is very good at speaking Urdu, whereas nowadays, parents mostly speak in English with their kids.
Rabia asked if it was already planned by Yasir and Iqra to make him learn Urdu.
"We all speak Urdu at home as he goes to an English medium school, he has been able to learn it well from fellow students and because teachers communicate in English as well, but at home we speak Urdu only.”
Hussain recalled a moment when Kabir came on set with him, and a person asked Yasir to make Kabir learn English.
“Once he came to the set with me and an actor asked me to make him learn English, rather than talking to him in Urdu. But then I thought that he must be fluent in Urdu... English can be learnt later on in life. I see people around me who are not fluent in Urdu but only English, which is so wrong.”
“We make sure to communicate in Urdu at home”, Yasir added.
“Urdu is basic and must be learnt well; other languages are secondary,” said Yasir.
Replying to this, the ghost said, "Kids learn languages very quick but in Pakistan we are not able to make them learn every language but surely in the age of 12 or 13 they are able to pick different languages fastly."
Yasir Hussain and Iqra Aziz tied the knot in 2019, months after their publicized proposal at an awards ceremony, and welcomed their first child, son Kabir Hussain, in 2021.
Currently, the couple is busy in the drama serial 'Paradise'.
