The Provincial Disaster Management Authority Punjab (PDMA) has issued an alert regarding a likely increase in heat intensity across the province in the coming days.
According to the authority, temperatures in the plains of Punjab are expected to rise significantly, with forecasts indicating an increase of 6 to 8 degrees Celsius above normal levels.
The PDMA said thunderstorms are also expected in the northern parts of the province. Rain is predicted in the upper areas on March 6 and 7, while another spell of rain is likely in northern areas between March 9 and 11.
Director General PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia said the rise in temperature could affect crops, advising farmers to take precautionary measures in view of the changing weather conditions.
He also urged tourists planning to travel to northern areas to exercise caution and remain aware of weather advisories.
The PDMA advised the public to contact its emergency helpline 1129 in case of any emergency.
