Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, where they discussed matters of bilateral importance, including the tense situation between Pakistan and India following the Pahalgam incident, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
During the meeting, President Zardari expressed grave concern over India’s recent irresponsible and aggressive statements, warning that such actions posed a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
President Zardari reiterated Pakistan’s principled position calling for a transparent and impartial investigation into the Pahalgam attack, which he described as a false flag operation.
The Chinese envoy reaffirmed the enduring and time-tested friendship between China and Pakistan, declaring the two nations as "iron brothers" who have always stood by each other in difficult times.
Chinese Ambassador Jiang thanked the President for sharing Pakistan’s perspective and assured that China will continue to support Pakistan in its pursuit of peace and stability in South Asia.
President Zardari appreciated China's unwavering support during challenging times and lauded the Chinese government’s consistent backing of Pakistan on key issues.
Last month, on April 2, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong also held a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr and discussed the security issues of Chinese citizens in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, it is noteworthy that on May 2, 2025, renowned Chinese analyst Dr Victor Gau, Vice President of the Centre for China and Globalisation and former assistant to the Chinese president, issued a strong statement in favour of Pakistan during an interview with Indian media.
Dr Victor Gau supported the Pakistani position and clearly said that if any country attacks Pakistan, China will stand by its side. Gau’s words show the depth of the China-Pakistan friendship. He said China would never leave Pakistan alone in difficult times.
He said Pakistan has always demanded a transparent investigation into the Pahalgam false flag operation. "A thorough and impartial investigation into the Pahalgam attack is necessary," he said.
Gau also added that China’s support is not just words. It is a promise based on strong ties and trust. He stressed that China will actively help in Pakistan’s defence if needed.
According to him, any attack on Pakistan will be seen as a serious matter by China. This shows China’s firm position on regional peace and alliances.
Moreover, Gau referred to past incidents involving attacks on Chinese citizens in Pakistan. He said China had always asked for full investigations. For example, after the Pahalgam attack, China strongly demanded answers and action. This shows China’s concern for its people and close allies.
Gau’s message sends a clear warning to any country planning aggression against Pakistan. China sees Pakistan as a true partner. Their cooperation is not only political but also based on shared interests. This strong support could affect the region’s balance of power.
