Situation has become precarious in Karachi as 12 people of different age groups have lost their lives in different areas of the port city due to heatstroke during the last 24 hours, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Deaths have been reported from New Karachi, Boat Basin and Surjani Town.
On the other hand, daytime temperature shot up to 43 degrees Celsius on Monday afternoon, which felt like 50 degrees Celsius, compounding problems for the residents of the city.
Maximum temperature on Tuesday was expected to touch the 39 degrees Celsius mark, while the absence of sea breeze made the weather humid.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 26.5 degrees Celsius.
The level of moisture in the air was recorded at 48 per cent.
Meanwhile, just like other specialists have advised people to take precautionary measures in order to protect themselves from extreme heat, Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases Executive Director and a heart specialist, Professor Rifaat Sultana, has also urged heart and sugar patients to be careful and avoid exposure to sun.
In a video message, she has also advised motorcyclists to take care of themselves.
Weather turns pleasant in Lahore
On the other hand, temperatures in Lahore have come down owing to recent rains and strong winds.
On Tuesday morning, breeze was blowing at the speed of 11 kilometers per hour, while the level of humidity stood at 78 per cent.
Hot, dry weather forecast for Islamabad
The Met Office on Tuesday forecast hot and dry weather for Islamabad.
The minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 23 degrees Celsius which was expected to rise to 28 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.
Winds were expected to blow in the city at the speed ranging from 11 kilometers per hour to 14 kilometers per hour.
Hot, dry weather predicted for most parts of country
The Met Office said that the weather would remain hot, and extremely hot in the southern parts of the country.
However, it said that thundershowers, accompanied by strong winds, were expected at a few places in Kohistan, Battagram, Shangla, Dir, Parachinar, Kurram, Kohat, Hangu, Karak and Bannu in KP in the evening.
It forecast hot and dry weather for most parts of Punjab, barring Murree and adjoining areas, which, it said, were likely to receive showers.
Likewise, it predicted extremely hot weather for Sindh and southern areas of Balochistan.
The weather department said that strong winds would blow in the southern and central parts of Punjab.
It forecast rain and winds for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
It said that some parts of Kashmir might also receive hails.
