The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission has issued a revised schedule for the revision, amendment, and correction of electoral rolls under the Electoral Rules 2022, outlining key deadlines leading up to the publication of final voter lists.
According to Secretary Election Commission Raja Shakeel Ahmed Khan, timelines for various stages of the electoral roll process have been updated. He said the preparation of updated electoral rolls, with initial administrative support and assistance from National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), was completed on March 18, 2026.
He added that the process of voter registration, deletion, and data provision continued from March 24 to April 13, followed by the scrutiny and correction of draft electoral rolls from April 14 to April 22.
The preliminary electoral rolls were made public on April 28, 2026. Citizens have been given time from April 28 to May 7 to register, correct, or file objections regarding their votes. Hearings and decisions on these applications will take place on May 8 and 9.
The secretary further stated that decisions of the Review Authority will be communicated on May 10, while their incorporation into the electoral rolls will be carried out between May 11 and May 13.
Final electoral rolls will be published on May 16, 2026, paving the way for the conduct of general elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The Election Commission has urged the public to verify and update their voter information within the given timeframe to help ensure a transparent and accurate electoral process.
