The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), in a meeting chaired by Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, on Tuesday approved a series of key policy decisions and development projects aimed at economic growth and public welfare.
The ECC gave the green light to expand the scope of the Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Programme, with a revised housing financing framework that will now include overseas Pakistanis as well as the private sector.
In the energy sector, the committee approved gas supply for the revival of National Steel Complex Limited. The supply will, however, be subject to tariff conditions and availability, as part of efforts to restart operations at the facility.
The ECC also approved the launch of the second phase of the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification Programme. Under the new EV Policy 2025-30, the government aims to improve both efficiency and accessibility of electric vehicles across the country.
A major decision was taken to implement uniform system charges for all power distribution companies, including K-Electric, ensuring a standardised pricing structure nationwide.
The committee further approved a technical supplementary grant of Rs2.5 billion for the Directorate General Immigration and Passports to cover salaries, procurement of production equipment and outstanding dues.
Additionally, Rs350 million was approved for operational expenses of the Danish School in Islamabad, while Rs100 million was sanctioned for the construction of the Faiz Ahmed Faiz Complex in Narowal.
The ECC also approved Rs596 million for expenses related to Independence Day and Marka-e-Haq celebrations in 2025.
