The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has uncovered an illegal hawala/hundi network during a major operation in Karachi, arresting three suspects and recovering foreign currency along with digital evidence.

According to officials, the raid was conducted in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area where three accused identified as Noman, Liaquat, and Mudassar were taken into custody.

During the operation, FIA teams recovered 20,000 US dollars, which was declared part of an illegal money transfer system. Investigators said the seized cash was being used in unauthorized financial transactions through the hawala network.

Authorities also confiscated five mobile phones from the suspects’ possession. Preliminary examination of the devices reportedly yielded important digital evidence related to the illegal currency exchange operations.

The FIA has registered a case and launched a formal investigation into the matter. Officials indicated that further arrests are likely as the probe expands, suggesting that the network may have a wider operational spread.

The agency reiterated that its crackdown against illegal currency exchange and hawala networks is ongoing across the country.
