The federal government has approved the appointment of five new directors to the Pakistan Television (PTV) Board for a term of three years, marking a significant reshuffle in the state broadcaster’s management structure.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the new appointments aim to strengthen the board’s governance and bring in diverse expertise from across the country.
As per the notification, Yasir Qureshi and Prof Dr. Asghar Nadeem have been appointed board directors for Lahore, while Khatun Tasneem Rehman and Ishtiaq Baig have been named directors representing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Khalid Mahmood Khan has been appointed director for Islamabad, while Awais Kiani has also been included among the new members of the board.
The appointments have been made for a three-year term, during which the directors will contribute to policy-making, programming strategy, and administrative oversight of PTV — the country’s national broadcaster.
Officials said the new board composition reflects the government’s commitment to revitalizing PTV through professional management and regional representation. The inclusion of media professionals, academics, and business figures is expected to help modernize PTV’s operations and align it with evolving trends in public broadcasting.
The newly appointed directors are expected to formally assume their responsibilities following the completion of necessary administrative procedures.
