Punjab’s mega Yellow Line dropped project from current fiscal year

Aftershocks of historic flood disasters in the province as Punjab government's mega public transport project Yellow Line has been dropped from the current financial year, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

According to sources, funds allocated for the Yellow Line project will now be spent on financial assistance to flood victims.

Punjab government will now start the Yellow Line project in the next financial year 2026 and 2027.

Funds of Rs60 to Rs80 billion will be required for the Yellow Line project.

Punjab government was to complete the Yellow Line project in December 2026.

Funds of more than Rs30 billion were allocated for the Yellow Line project in the current financial year.

The Punjab government had planned to make the electric automated rail transit system operational on both sides of the Lahore Canal from Thokar Niaz Baig Chowk to Harbanspura for the Yellow Line project.

The route of the Yellow Line will cover 24 kilometers and CR Norinco complete test run phase by importing first set of automated rail transit.
