On the directions of the Ministry of Law, special courts have been set up across Punjab for the immediate hearing of cases of rape and violence against women and children, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
On the orders of the Lahore High Court, the Sessions Judge Lahore has established six special courts and six senior additional judges have been appointed in the courts.
These courts were established under the Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) Act, 2021.
Earlier, seven courts were functioning in the Sessions Court, but now courts have been established exclusively consisting of senior judges.
The special courts which were functioning earlier have been directed to prepare lists of cases so that the cases could be transferred.
