Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday left on a two-day official visit to Malaysia on the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
He was accompanied by a delegation comprising Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information Ataullah Tarar, Special Advisor to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, and other high officials.
According to the Foreign Office (FO) spokesman, the strategic partnership between Pakistan and Malaysia was strong.
He informed that the prime minister was scheduled to hold a meeting with his Malaysian counterpart at which regional and global issues would come under discussion.
On this occasion, both leaders will discuss increasing cooperation in education, energy, trade, IT and telecom, halal industry and investment sectors.
Measures to increase people-to-people contact would also be discussed at the meeting, the spokesman added.
During the visit, agreements and MoUs are expected to be signed.
The spokesperson said that there existed a consensus between Pakistan and Malaysia to promote peace, stability, trade, and investment.
Pakistan is determined to further strengthen friendly relations with Malaysia, the foreign office said.
