The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain, strong winds, thunderstorms, and snowfall over the hills in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, and Punjab during the next 24 hours.
According to the advisory, heavy rainfall could cause flooding in local rivers and streams in areas including Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and parts of Kashmir.
The department cautioned that the weather system may also lead to disruption of daily activities and possible damage to weak structures, electricity poles, billboards, vehicles, solar panels, and mud houses due to gusty winds, hailstorms, and lightning.
Travellers and tourists have been advised to plan their journeys carefully and stay updated on local weather conditions.
For Islamabad and adjoining areas, the forecast predicts partly cloudy weather with chances of rain, thunderstorms, and hail at isolated locations.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, districts including Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Battagram, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kohat, Nowshera, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Waziristan, and Kurram are likely to receive rain with occasional heavy downpours or hail.
Similarly, Punjab is expected to see rain and thunderstorms in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Dera Ghazi Khan, and surrounding areas, with chances of heavy rain or hail at a few spots.
In Sindh,the weather is likely to remain hot and dry, except in Umerkot, Tharparkar, and coastal areas, where light rain or thunderstorms are expected. Balochistan will see mostly dry conditions, with partly cloudy skies along the coast.
The PMD added that Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan could experience rain, strong winds, and snowfall in higher altitudes.
During the past 24 hours, several parts of Punjab, KP, GB, and Kashmir received rain accompanied by winds and thunder, while the rest of the country remained hot and dry.
