Pakistan Kabaddi Federation President Chaudhry Shafay Hussain has challenged India, inviting them to face Pakistan on the kabaddi field, while criticizing New Delhi for politicizing sports, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
Speaking to the media, Shafay Hussain expressed pride in Pakistan’s achievements in the sport and reaffirmed his commitment to promoting kabaddi both nationally and internationally.
“It is an honour for me that under my leadership as President of the Kabaddi Federation, Pakistan won the World Cup 2020 by beating arch-rival India.
“We beat India in 2020 and made the nation proud,” he added.
Shafay Hussain further announced that the next Kabaddi World Cup will be held in Malaysia in 2026.
“Our mission is to develop kabaddi at the grassroots level and ensure Pakistan continues to dominate the global kabaddi stage,” he said.
The federation chief strongly criticized India for repeatedly bringing politics into sports, saying, “India always mixes politics with games, which goes against the spirit of sportsmanship.”
He emphasized that sports should serve as a medium of peace and friendship, but lamented that “the Indians remain consumed by a war frenzy.”
In a sharp reference to past military tensions, Shafay remarked, “India still hasn’t forgotten the destruction of its six fighter jets.”
