Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has shared her reasons for including hidden clues, known as “Easter eggs,” in her albums, saying they make her music more entertaining for fans.
Speaking to the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, Swift said she enjoys creating surprises that reward attentive listeners. “I really want my music to be a surprise for my fans, and I want to find clever and fun ways to do that,” she said.
The Carolina singer added that the hidden details are optional for fans who simply want to enjoy the music. “You don’t need to do the math if you don’t want to, but if you want an extra layer of entertainment, it’s there,” she explained.
Swift also mentioned that fans recently discovered one of her favourite hidden details — the titles of the songs on her latest album, when aligned in the centre, form the shape of The Eras Tour stage.
“I was so pleased when they found that out,” she said. “That’s why we’re so shrouded in secrecy.”
