High drama unfolded outside Adiala Jail on Friday when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, came under attack by two girls who hurled eggs at her during a media talk outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Friday.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, eyewitnesses confirmed that the girls hurled several eggs at Aleema Khan, and one egg struck her on the face and broke on her right shoulder.
The attackers swiftly fled towards their vehicle after launching the egg attack, but a large crowd of PTI workers surrounded the girls' car.
Enraged workers hit the car with punches and hurled stones. They also shattered its windscreen before the attackers managed to escape.
The girls attacked Aleema Khan when she was busy in her interaction with journalists and YouTubers. After the egg attack incident, she also faced a heated verbal spat with YouTubers.
As sharp questions poured in, she cut short the session, entered her car, and left the Adiala Jail.
Talking to media persons and YouTubers outside the Adiala Jail, she said the “winds of change” were evident.
Aleema Khan claimed that people’s anger was visible everywhere, alleging that even police officials had confessed they were tired of the system’s oppression.
“The nation stood up for its rights in the February 8 general elections, and today the founder’s voice is being suppressed, which means the people’s voice is being silenced,” she remarked.
She further added that Pakistan’s rulers feared accountability. “Their fear alone shows you the direction this country is heading. This is not democracy being imposed on the people, but a system of force.”
The PTI founder's sister maintained that the treatment of her brother, Imran Khan, was equivalent to the oppression of the entire Pakistani nation.
The session turned more tense when YouTubers began asking sharp questions of Aleema Khan. One YouTuber later claimed he had merely asked a question without misbehaviour, but Aleema Khan instructed her workers to “teach him a lesson”. Following the exchange, she quickly entered her vehicle and left.
