Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has reacted strongly to the statement of Maryam Riaz Wattoo, sister of former First Lady Bushra Bibi, over the recent egg-throwing incident involving Aleema Khanum, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.
Earlier the day, during a press conference outside Adiala Jail, Aleema Khanum was targeted when an egg was thrown at her, sparking uproar within PTI circles. Police later detained two women accused of hurling eggs at Khanum.
However, the controversy deepened after Maryam Riaz Wattoo alleged in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that the entire episode was “a drama staged by Aleema Khanum herself.” She wrote: “A good drama has started and you are all becoming fools.”

Responding to this claim, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that Bushra Bibi’s own sister is now suggesting Aleema Khanum orchestrated the incident.
“She is saying this was all drama, and Aleema Khanum was herself behind the egg-throwing,” Naqvi remarked, highlighting the unusual nature of the allegation.
