An IndiGo passenger aircraft arriving from Mumbai to Srinagar collided with a pole of the airport’s Visual Docking Guidance System while moving towards its parking position, 24NewsHD TV reported.
IndiGo flight 6E-225 was involved in the incident at around 9:02 am.
The aircraft, an Airbus A321 that had entered service only about four months ago, suffered damage to its nose section.
The Visual Docking Guidance System uses laser sensors and display units to help pilots safely position aircraft at parking stands.
Fortunately, all passengers and crew members on board remained safe, and no injuries were reported.
Passengers and crew were safely evacuated from the aircraft using regular stairs.
Airport authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the collision.
