Meghan Markle thanks Prince Harry for making her 44th birthday 'so special' with intimate dinner at celebrity hotspot
Meghan Markle has shared a heartfelt message of gratitude for her husband, Prince Harry, as she celebrated her 44th birthday in style at a star-studded restaurant in Beverly Hills.
The Duchess of Sussex took to Instagram to post a serene photo of herself blowing out candles on her birthday cake, with her eyes closed and a peaceful smile on her face. The image, simple yet elegant, quickly made waves across social media.
“Blowing out the candles on a beautiful 24 hours, and thanking my husband, friends and family for making it so special,” Meghan captioned the post.
“To those of you I don’t know, but who send love every day – thank you so much. Please know I feel it and appreciate it ❤️.”
Markle, who officially turned 44 on Monday, marked the special occasion with a dinner at Funke, an acclaimed restaurant in Beverly Hills. The upscale venue, helmed by celebrity chef Evan Funke, has become a favourite among A-listers, including Kim Kardashian, Michelle Obama, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Jennifer Lopez, and Matt Damon.
The Duchess raved about her dining experience at Funke, calling it one of the “top five meals” of her life. “Extraordinary ???? Thank you for a standout dining experience,” she wrote, tagging the restaurant and praising the chef.
Dressed in a rhinestone-adorned white ensemble, Meghan looked radiant as she leaned over to blow out the candles on a beautifully decorated cake topped with torched meringue and delicate flowers.
The intimate birthday celebration also came amid fresh headlines around her upcoming Netflix cooking show, With Love, Meghan, which some have compared to Pamela Anderson’s Cooking With Love. The Duchess has responded lightheartedly, hinting she was “about to get a little foodie on” with her followers.
Meanwhile, Meghan’s famous circle of friends didn’t hold back in showering her with birthday love. Several of her longtime pals, including Suits co-star Abigail Spencer, philanthropist Kelly McKee Zajfen, entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima, and producer Tracy Robbins, took to Instagram with emotional tributes.
Abigail Spencer referred to Meghan as “Champagne in human form” and “a sister in this life and beyond,” while Meghan sweetly replied, “Thank you, sweet Abs! Right back at you, and happy birthday to YOU! 44/4”.
Kelly McKee Zajfen posted a rare black-and-white image of herself laughing alongside Meghan, calling the Duchess “pure magic.” The touching photo captured the pair smiling beside a fountain, with Meghan donning a chic chain-print dress by Veronica Beard.
It was a rare public moment of vulnerability and joy from the Duchess, who has kept much of her personal life private since stepping back from royal duties in 2020.
