Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Wednesday has released the results of the 17th Agricultural Census 2024, revealing significant changes in the country’s agricultural landscape, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
According to the report, the number of agricultural households has increased from 8.3 million in 2010 to 11.7 million in 2024. The number of livestock in Pakistan has also seen a notable rise, growing from 143 million in 2006 to 251.3 million in 2024, with the livestock population increasing at an annual rate of 3.18 percent. Additionally, 79 percent of the cultivated area is now irrigated through canals and tube wells.
The country is home to approximately 1.5 million camels and 4.8 million donkeys, further highlighting the diversity and scale of Pakistan’s livestock.
