Orla Prendergast's all-round performance led Ireland to an 11-run victory over Pakistan's women in the first T20I of the three-match series at the Clontarf Cricket Club on Wednesday.

After being asked to bat first, Ireland posted a competitive total of 142 runs in 19.4 overs, thanks to valuable contributions from the middle order.

Amy Hunter anchored the innings with a brisk 37 off 30 balls, laced with five boundaries. She was ably supported by Prendergast, who scored 29 off 26 deliveries, including three fours.

Leah Paul later added a quick-fire 29 off 18 balls, featuring four boundaries, helping Ireland recover from early blows.

However, the host lost their last six wickets for just 31 runs.

Fatima Sana starred with the ball, claiming 4 wickets for 26 runs.

Sadia Iqbal, Nashra Sandhu, Rameen Shamim, and Diana Baig chipped in with one wicket each.

Chasing 143 for victory, Pakistan faltered despite promising knocks from Natalia Pervaiz and Rameen Shamim.

Pervaiz top-scored with a fiery 39 off 23 balls, while Shamim contributed a solid 27 off 20 deliveries.

However, the rest of the batting lineup failed to build partnerships, with only Sidra Amin (15), Aliya Riaz (14), and captain Fatima Sana (14) reaching double figures.

Prendergast took 3 wickets for 28 runs. She was supported by Jane Maguire, who bagged two wickets, while Ava Canning, Cara Murray, and Lara McBride took one apiece.

Pakistan concluded their innings at 131/9 in 20 overs, falling short by 11 runs and handing Ireland a 1-0 lead in the series.

The two sides will meet again in the second T20I as Pakistan look to bounce back and level the series.
