Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that Law Enforcement Investigation Centre on the model of China will be established in Islamabad and a pilot project in this regard with be launched soon, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Mohsin Naqvi said this in a meeting in Islamabad on Thursday with assistant superintendents of police (ASPs), who returned after completing training courses in China and Turkiye.
The ASPs described the foreign training courses as an excellent experience for enhancing professional skills.
The ASPs shared their observations related to modern policing, surveillance systems, technology and modern equipment usage from China and Turkiye, and the management of law and order.
Commandant National Police Academy, DG FIA, and relevant officers were also present on this occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Interior Minister announced to make foreign training programmes a permanent part of professional training of police officers. “A pilot project will be started to establish a Law Enforcement Investigation Center on the model of China in Islamabad,” he said and added “Detention, investigation and summary trial will be held under one roof in the Law Enforcement Center.”
The Center will enable quick and effective disposal of minor crime cases, the minister said, adding the police system will be made more effective by utilizing successful models of modern policing.
Mohsin Naqvi maintained that the scope of surveillance will be significantly increased through modern technology and surveillance systems. “Modern drones will be added to the Aviation Wing of the Ministry of Interior for prevention of crimes and effective surveillance,” he added.
Mohsin Naqvi said specialized investigation rooms will be established in the National Police Academy and special attention will be given to specialized investigation training in accordance with the needs of modern policing.
The Interior Minister said interrogation will be introduced as a specialized subject and modern interrogation techniques will be made a part of training based on models of developed countries.
Uniforms compatible with operational requirements will be introduced for the police, he said.
