A high-level defence delegation from the Federal Republic of Somalia, led by Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, called on Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu in Islamabad on Wednesday to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Somali delegation first met Admiral Naveed Ashraf at Naval Headquarters (NHQ), where the two sides discussed key matters of mutual professional interest, regional maritime security and bilateral defence collaboration.
During the meeting, the naval chief reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to further strengthening defence ties with Somalia.
The Somali delegation also held talks with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters (AHQ), where discussions focused on bilateral defence cooperation, professional collaboration and capacity building.
The chief of the air staff highlighted the Pakistan Air Force's indigenous capability development, training programmes and professional exchanges, while reaffirming the PAF's commitment to supporting institutional cooperation with the Somali Air Force.
The ISPR said Somali Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi appreciated the Pakistan Navy's contributions to regional maritime security and praised the Pakistan Air Force's professionalism and operational capabilities.
