Approving the bail petition of a suspect in a murder case in lieu of a surety bond of Rs200,000, the Supreme Court (SC), in an important decision on Wednesday, said that in the event of non-completion of trial in a criminal case in two years, the suspect would be entitled to bail, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The judgment, penned down by Justice Athar Minallah, while discouraging delay in the completion of the trial, said that if a court disposed of a bail petition in the event of its withdrawal, it would not be filed again.
