The Punjab government has begun establishing state-of-the-art laboratories to teach artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics across government schools. The initiative is aimed at equipping students with hands-on technological skills that go far beyond traditional textbooks.

Following the successful completion of a pilot project in select schools, authorities have approved the expansion of modern labs throughout the province. These new facilities will offer students practical training in robotics, programming and artificial intelligence—fields increasingly essential in a rapidly evolving digital world.

According to the Punjab Education Department, the introduction of AI and robotics labs is expected to play a transformative role in shaping creative thinking, problem-solving abilities and technological literacy among students. Officials say the goal is not just to familiarise children with modern tools, but to empower them to innovate.

Maryam Fatima, a master trainer at a STEM lab, emphasised the long-term vision behind the project. “The aim of the program is to provide students with modern skills that are essential for future employment opportunities,” she said. “We want children not only to use technology but to create technology themselves.”
