Pneumonia cases among children are rising in Multan, with government hospitals confirming 57 new cases over the past 24 hours, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.
According to hospital sources, the highest number of cases was recorded at the Children’s Hospital Multan, where 27 children were diagnosed with pneumonia.
Nishtar Hospital reported 13 cases, while Shahbaz Sharif Hospital treated 10 affected children.
A further seven cases were confirmed at South City Hospital.
Medical authorities said that private hospitals and clinics across Multan are also continuing to report pneumonia cases.
Doctors have attributed the increase to changing weather conditions and seasonal severity, which particularly affects young children with weaker immune systems.
Pneumonia is considered the number one killer of children in Pakistan.
Health experts have advised parents to take strict precautionary measures, including protecting children from cold exposure, ensuring proper clothing, maintaining hygiene, and seeking immediate medical attention in case of symptoms such as fever, cough, or breathing difficulties.
Hospital administrations said medical staff remain on alert to manage the growing number of cases, while urging parents not to ignore early signs of the disease to prevent complications.
