The Sindh government has cancelled a music evening scheduled for tonight at Mohatta Palace in Karachi following a bomb blast in Islamabad, provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said on Friday.
Speaking to the media, Memon said the cultural programme was called off as a mark of grief and solidarity with the victims of the tragic incident in the federal capital.
He described the decision as a gesture of respect in light of the loss of lives caused by the bombing.
The music event had been arranged in honour of guests attending the Commonwealth Conference, the minister said, adding that it was deemed inappropriate to proceed with celebratory activities under the circumstances.
“Due to the unfortunate incident in Islamabad, there will be no cultural programme,” Memon said, noting that the evening’s arrangements have been scaled down.
He added that only a simple dinner will now be hosted instead of the planned musical gathering.
