A third-degree fire broke out at a plastic manufacturing factory in the Landhi Export Processing Zone Friday, prompting a large-scale firefighting operation by Rescue 1122 and the Fire Brigade.

According to Rescue 1122 and fire brigade officials, the blaze erupted at a private plastics factory, identified as Lined Plastics, and quickly engulfed the building. Firefighting teams rushed to the scene and began efforts to control the fire.

At least 12 fire tender teams, including 10 fire brigade vehicles and two snorkels, were deployed from across the city. Fire brigade officials said the factory has been surrounded from all sides to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby industrial units.

The fire has spread up to the fourth floor of the factory, while officials warned that there is a risk of the blaze spreading to a company located behind the affected building. The factory has been completely engulfed by flames, raising fears of significant financial losses.

Rescue officials said no reports of workers being present inside the factory or of any injuries have been received so far.

Efforts to bring the fire under control were continuing till the filing of this report. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, according to fire brigade officials.
