The world’s longest wild snake has been discovered in Indonesia, with Guinness World Records confirming that a giant python found in the Maros region is the longest ever recorded in the wild.
In a statement, Guinness World Records said verified evidence showed the snake measured 23 feet and 8 inches in length, surpassing previously known records for wild pythons.
The massive reptile is currently under the care of a wildlife conservation organisation to ensure its protection and well-being.
Its supervision is being handled by wildlife caretaker Diaz Nugraha and natural history photographer Radu Frentiu, who were involved in documenting and verifying the snake.

Nugraha and Frentiu said they began searching for the python after hearing persistent local reports and rumours about an unusually large snake in the area.
Following its discovery, they named the python “Ibu Baron.”
Pythons typically grow to between 9 and 19 feet in adulthood, making the newly identified specimen exceptionally rare in size.
Experts note that pythons primarily feed on smaller animals but are capable of overpowering and swallowing larger prey, including deer and crocodiles, when the opportunity arises.
The species is known for its highly flexible jaws, which allow it to open wide enough to swallow prey whole.
Attacks on humans are considered rare, though isolated incidents have been reported in the past.
