Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Lahore Safari Park and reviewed the ongoing projects.
He took a round of the park and inspected the cages of tigers and other animals. Talking to the media after the visit, the chief minister announced the launch of night safari and said special huts would be built.
Safety measures according to international standards will be adopted while 200 new animals will be of children’s interest, the CM said.
The night safari will be a different kind of entertainment for the public, Mohsin maintained, adding that the night safari will also have a resthouse where families can stay and companies will also be able to organize events at the Safari Zoo Rest House.
The Lahore Zoo will also be upgraded and officials concerned gave a briefing about the project, he said. The Safari and Lahore Zoo projects will be completed by January 31.
Three elephants will be brought to the safari zoo and tenders for the purchase of new animals have been issued, he said,
He added high-level efforts are underway to get pandas from China.
The ministers are monitoring these projects daily, he said, adding that the projects will be completed by January 31.
There are very few entertainment opportunities for children in Lahore, Mohsin said, adding that due to the poor condition of the parks and recreational spots, people lost their interest in amusement and recreational activities.
About the anti-encroachment operation, he said the crackdown is underway but the encroachers do the same after their release a couple of days.
He reiterated his resolve to continue efforts to ensure better public service delivery and finish the projects by January 31.
He said the process of recruitment of police personnel will be completed soon and the school closure due to intense cold will be extended on the recommendations of the Education Department.
About artificial rain, he said suitable clouds are not present.
Fog engulfed the Punjab province and even Rawalpindi too in the grip of it for the first time, he said, adding that Faisalabad, Sialkot and Lahore airports are closed due to fog.
Ministers and senior officials were also present.
