An explosion destroyed the office of a former local government official in Bannu’s Domel police station limits on Tuesday, sparking fears of casualties.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel report, the blast targeted the office of former Nazim of Tehsil Domel Malik Fida Muhammad Khan Wazir, reducing the building to rubble.
Bannu police and local authorities said there were apprehensions of loss of life, though an official confirmation of casualties was awaited.
The channel reported that residents of the area had confronted suspected militants at the same office a day earlier, raising concerns that the explosion may have been a retaliatory act.
Following the blast, a heavy police contingent rushed to the scene, cordoned off the area, and launched an investigation.
Separately, in Lakki Marwat, a police constable injured during an operation against unknown suspects succumbed to his wounds and was martyred.
Local police confirmed that Constable Saeed Khan had been critically injured while bravely engaging suspects during an operation a day earlier and was under treatment at a hospital when he passed away.
Security in the region has been heightened as investigations into both incidents continue.
