Even as the new year 2026 begins, incidents of dog bites are rising alarmingly in Karachi, with children bearing the brunt of the attacks, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
According to hospital data, around 300 dog bite cases were reported at Indus Hospital within the first five days of the year alone.
Hospital authorities revealed that nearly 80 percent of the victims are children, many of whom sustained severe bites on different parts of their bodies.
Doctors have urged parents to exercise extreme caution and closely monitor their children when allowing them to be outdoors.
Meanwhile, Civil Hospital Karachi has reported around 200 dog bite cases so far this year, while Jinnah Hospital, Karachi, has recorded 120 cases.
The scale of the crisis is further highlighted by last year’s figures, when more than 52,000 dog bite cases were reported collectively by Karachi’s three major hospitals.
