The Motorway M-4 from Gojra to Abdul Hakeem has been closed for traffic due to dense fog, 24NwsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
According to Syed Imran Ahmed, spokesperson of the Motorway Police Central Region, the decision to close the motorway was taken to ensure the safety of the lives and property of road users.
He warned that lane violations in foggy conditions can lead to serious and fatal accidents.
The spokesperson urged motorists to strictly follow lane discipline, avoid unnecessary travel, and prefer daytime journeys.
He added that safe travel hours during fog are from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Drivers have been advised to use fog lights, avoid speeding, and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead at all times to reduce the risk of accidents.
The Motorway Police further requested citizens to exercise patience and caution, and said road users can contact the Motorway Police helpline 130 for guidance and assistance.
