Two children were drowned while swimming in a canal in Liaquatpur, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The incident took place in Chak No. 179 Cholistan in Liaquatpur, falling under the jurisdiction of Cholistan Development Authority (CDA).
The residents of the area brought out the children from the canal on their own. CCTV footage also showed the rescue of the children.
One child had died, and the other one was in critical condition in the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) Lahore.
It is necessary to mention here that the local administration imposed a ban on swimming in rivers and canals. The incident occurred due to the negligence and inefficiency of the Choistan Development Authority.
