The District Education Authority has decided to seal 30 unregistered schools in Lahore as they ignored repeated notices for getting themselves registered, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The District Education Authority has forwarded a request to the district administration for sealing these schools, saying they did not follow through warnings for registration.
Meanwhile, it was also decided to extend the deadline for conducting survey of unregistered schools.
CEO Education Tariq Mahmood said the survey of city’s all private registered and unregistered schools will be completed today.
“We so far have issued notices to 744 institutions,” he added.
The District Education Authority had formally launched a crackdown on unregistered schools and academies across Lahore two days ago.
Punjab Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat Khan had said that as per the Punjab Private Educational Institution Ordinance 1984, every education institution is bound for registration.
Rana Sikandar Hayat Khan advised all the private schools and academies to register their school or academies; otherwise, stern action will be taken against them.
School administrations had been directed to submit their responses within three days, failing which legal action will be initiated in accordance with the law.
The authority warned that unregistered schools could face fines ranging from Rs300,000 to Rs4 million under the applicable regulations.
The Punjab Education Minister said that obtaining a fitness certificate is mandatory; otherwise, the school or academy will be sealed.
