A number of MQM leaders including Dr Farooq Sattar, Amir Khan, former MNA Abdul Qadir Khanzada and MPA Quratul Ain appeared before an anti-terrorism court in Karachi on Monday in connection with cases relating to treason and attacks on media houses, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Former MQM media incharge Qamar Mansoor, Shahid Pasha and other accused were also present during the court proceedings.

Muttahida worker Rao Tariq was brought to court in an ambulance as he was suffering from kidney disease. Muhmmad Jeewani Advocate immediately requested the court to grant exemption from appearance to Rao Tariq.

Jeewani told the court that another accused Faisal has passed away a day before.

MQM Found Altaf Hussain had also been declared a proclaimed offender in these cases.

After hearing the arguments, the court adjourned the hearing of the case to the second week of August.

The police registered the case charging the accused with facilitating the MQM founder who delivered an anti-Pakistan speech on 22 August, 2016.

Police had said the MQM workers launched attacks on media houses after listening to MQM founder’s speech.
