Arif Habib Group Chairman, Arif Habib, has said that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will become a profitable organization during its first year, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
Arif Habib said that 19 planes are included in PIA’s fleet while they will boost the fleet to 60 planes during the next five years.
He said that there are four to five planes currently in PIA’s fleet, which will be operational after necessary maintenance and repair work.
Arif Habib said that measures are being taken to restore full operation of Pakistan International Airlines. He said that five new planes will be included in the fleet. He said that employees will also increase as the fleet expands.
He said that PIA will use profitable routes; no route will be adopted based on donations. He said that special focus will be given to the engineering department.
He said that a huge investment will be made in the engineering department. Arif Habib said that payment of 66 shares is completed, while payment of the remaining 34 percent shares will be completed in one year.
He said that as per the agreement, no employee will be retrenched.
