A fire broke out in the hostel of doctors from Services Hospital, located in Lahore’s Shadman area, on Friday, causing panic among residents but resulting in no injuries or casualties.
According to 24NewsHD TV, the blaze erupted in a room on the upper floor of the building. Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the scene promptly and launched a rescue operation to douse the flames.
Rescue officials confirmed that the fire was of medium intensity and confined to the upper-floor room, allowing them to bring it under control efficiently.
Fortunately, no serious damage, injury, or casualty was reported during the incident.
It is pertinent to mention here that a similar incident occurred in January last year at the nurses’ hostel of Ayub Medical Complex in Abbottabad, where a major fire broke out, trapping over 20 nurses inside the building.
Heavy smoke engulfed the premises, and rescue officials had to enter through emergency staircases. Three firefighting vehicles were deployed to control that blaze.
Authorities have reminded institutions to ensure strict fire safety protocols in hostel facilities to prevent future incidents.
